105 KILOGRAMS OF TRASH

In late 2025, a group of 24 people entered the sea for an underwater cleanup.

In less than an hour, we removed 105 kilograms of trash.

It was not floating. It was buried in the sand, trapped between corals, normalized as part of the seafloor.

And it was NOT just trash.

There was life among the debris: small organisms, algae, fish, moray eels, makeshift shelters. It was an ecosystem trying to adapt to something that should never have been there.

This is not an isolated case. It is part of the landscape we are creating.

Some currents concentrate the trash into massive vortices, such as the Great Pacific Garbage Patch, an area larger than many countries.

Over time, that plastic does not disappear, it breaks down. Today, billions of microplastic particles can be found from the surface to the seafloor.

These microplastics have already been found in fish, sea salt, drinking water, and even the human body.

THIS IS NOT A DISTANT PROBLEM.

• Some massive landfills, such as Bordo Poniente in Mexico and Ghazipur in India, are so large they can be seen from space.

• For decades, wealthy countries have shipped millions of tons of waste to poorer countries, especially in Asia and Africa.

Consuming more consciously.
Leading by example.
Doing it all over again daily

Because the sea does not need saviors.
It needs allies.

And if every person became just 1% more aware,
the positive impact would be immense.
